E-cigs do wonders to help people stop smoking. This is based on a few different concepts, such as transitioning and weaning. The process of quitting using an e-cig is explained below.
E-cigs are often used by people who want to transition from using regular cigarettes. The nice thing about this is that there is several different nicotine strengths associated with using electronic cigarettes.
For instance, some electronic cigarettes typically come in 6mg, 11mg, 16mg, and 24mg amounts. Eventually, a person can even wean down to the ones that have 0mg of nicotine in them.
This of course is a process and may take awhile. However, it is a known fact that many people have been able to successfully quite smoking for good after gradual decrease of nicotine.
This gradual decrease is often called “weaning off.” This of course takes place as a person is transitioning. This is similar to the way a person is removed from a prescription medication or the way a person may decide to gradually reduce alcohol intake until he/she no longer drinks at all.
There is no tar, carbon monoxide, or toxins (or very few) associated with using an e-cig. Furthermore, the vaporized smoke is not a fire hazard, and it is believed to be far less harmful than cigarette smoke based on not being processed like tobacco cigarettes.
A person who wants to quite smoking can take an e-cig just about anywhere. Of course, there may be some restrictions on when/where to use them. However, they are few and far between compared and contrasted to regular cigarette usage.
Furthermore, one electronic cigarette is equal to over 10 regular cigarettes. Therefore, they last longer and can be put in a pocket while going a way for a day or weekend.
Although an e-cig is definitely a safer alternative to a regular cigarette keep in mind that nicotine poisoning is possible. Therefore, do not inhale the e-cig too deeply as it is way more concentrated than a regular cigarette, and do not use too much at one time.
There was a study done in South Africa in recent years that produced some very interesting results. The hugest, most remarkable outcome is that almost half of users of a certain brand of e-cig were able to stop smoking within only two months of use.
Research indicates that users of e-cigs are not entirely without health risks. However, the health risks associated with using these devices to eventually stop smoking are far less.
